Big News!

Playboy and CrashToons double-team for hilarity!!!

Playboy just re-launched their web site and it now features some fantastic adult animation (i.e. Family Guy, Adult Swim, South Park style humor, not porn (there’s plenty o’ nakedness on the rest of Playboy’s site, so not to fret)).

Part of this fantastic batch of toon-mayhem are some CrashToons ‘toonage! The first one to go live is APESH!T Butter Face. Over the next several weeks, look out for another APESH!T and three Platypus Rex episodes. If all goes well, we’ll be making more ‘toons for Playboy very soon. Chupacabra @ SXSW

CrashToons’ animated gem “Spanish Lessons with Chupacabra Volume 7: Conversational Spanish” will screen at the 2009 South by Southwest Film Festival.  The ‘toon is screening in the SXSW AFS Member Showcase block on Saturday, March 14 at the Hideout Theater in downtown Austin.

LA Comedy Shorts Fest, I XXX you.

No shit!  That fest was one of the most fun festivals I’ve ever been to.  Fucking ever.  I met a ton of great folk, it was organized like a well-lubed lubricating machine and I saw an ass-load of funny as hell shorts.  And parties, right?  Fuck!  I don’t remember leaving the closing night party… sorry if I broke anything or embarrassed you… I did loose my jacket, so if anyone finds a black windbreaker with Bultaco written on the back and a bunch of CrashToons DVDs and stickers in the pocket, I lay claim to it.

Aside from that, it was near flawless.  Amazingly, ridiculously fun.  And I got to hang out with Granny Squidbilly!

Thanks to Jeannie, Ryan and Gary for showing my ‘toons and congrats on hosting such an amazing fest.  I hope to be back for #2.

Platypus Rex, APESH!T, Bob Ray in Los Angeles for the L.A. Comedy Shorts Film Festival

From March 5-8 in Los Angeles catch a boat load of funny shorts, including TWO CrashToons cartoons at the LA Comedy Shorts Film Festival (http://www.lacomedyshorts.com/shorts/shorts.htm). The fest is screening the two ‘toons under the banner “CrashToons” on Friday afternoon at 2:00 in the “I’m Gonna Get You” block.

The screenings take place at the Downtown Independent Theater (251 S. Main Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012). Bob Ray will be in attendance for the fest, so come on down and have a grand time with the CrashToons mastermind.

The recently launched Babelgum Online Film Festival features two kick ass CrashToons cartoons. The vaginal rejuvenation inspired “Platypus Rex’s Hymenoplasty” and the hysterical American road movie/’toon “APESH!T Road Trip” are in the animation competition part of the fest.

New feature script complete!
I just finished up a script for a kick ass dark comedy caper flick that freakin’ rules!

We’re working on a secret documentary project.  It’s gonna be funny.  It’s gonna be weird.  And as far as I know, it’s gonna be a documentary.

Night of the Kung Fu Zombie Bastards from Hell! (redux) will be screening in the 11th Mecal International Short Film Festival, which will take place from the 27th of March to the 5th of April 2009 in Barcelona, Spain.

And hell, the year’s just getting started.  Who knows what other kinda trouble we’ll get into around here.  It should be fun!

Here’s a look back at what we managed to accomplish in 2008.

Hell on Wheels:
We screened in loads more places and fests in 2008.  We had a sold out screening at NYC’s BAM Cinematheque, a screening at the world famous Egyptian Theater’s American Cinematheque in Los Angeles. We had fest screenings like mad and we screened the little film that could all over the US, Canada, and even Australia, England, Brazil and New Zealand.  And then we screened at RollerCon in Vegas!  What a blast!  And in September, we released the flick on an awesome two-disk DVD set from IndiePix!

Did you see Hell on Wheels in the New York Times?  An article in the December 18^th issue of the NTY featured Hell on Wheels!  Pretty cool.

APESH!T screened at the South by Southwest film fest and at the American Cinematheque in Los Angeles.  The Platypus Rex episode “Hymenoplasty” screened at the Austin Film Festival and Platypus Rex & Bob Ray won the Third Annual 2^nd Funniest Filmmaker in Austin Contest.  On top of that, several CrashToons cartoons screened before features at the ‘08 incarnation of Fantastic Fest!

Round One is a wrap Round Two is in our sights

Okay, so it looks like “Half Mile High Club” will bring us to the end of round one.  By which I mean I’m gonna need to write some more scripts to record before we can go much farther.

We already have a few gems that are for-sure green-lighters, like: Platypus Rex’s ABC-hole (and a “retaliation” version performed by Rooster Lollipop), Platypus Rex’s Spanglish, the Limp Dictionary episodes RU-486 and Lolligagging, and several one-offs like Fire Ants and the Platypus Rex/Rooster Lollipop cross-over Beer & Pussy.

So keep your ear and eye-holes peeled for more ‘toon wreckage from the fine folks over at CrashToons.

We’ll definately be reaching for new lows in round two. The Rooster Lollipop version of ABC-hole should reach the bottom.  So to speak.
